Can you help me grow my trades business?
Yes, by building the operational capacity to support that growth. I don’t focus on lead generation, sales funnels or growth for growth’s sake. I focus on making sure the business behind the growth can actually carry it. That can mean stronger planning and project visibility, clearer roles and accountability, better workflows and systems, and developing the leadership capacity needed to distribute more responsibility beyond the owner. Because growth without the structure to support it usually creates more complexity, more pressure and more dependency on the owner. Stability is what makes growth sustainable.
Is this business coaching?
Not exactly. Coaching is part of how I work, particularly around leadership, decision-making and accountability, but the focus is on building operational capacity inside the business. We look at how the business actually runs, including roles, planning, communication, workflows, visibility, systems and accountability, and build the structure needed to reduce friction and owner dependency. The goal isn’t just to help you think differently about your business. It’s to help your business operate differently.
Is this operations consulting or operations management?
There is overlap with both, but I don’t simply give you recommendations and leave you to implement them, and I’m not looking to become your permanent Operations Manager. I work alongside you to identify what’s creating friction or depending too heavily on the owner, design what needs to change, and help build and implement the operational structure your business needs next. The goal is to leave your business with greater internal capacity, not another person it depends on.
Is this a group program?
No. The work is built around your business, your people and what’s actually happening inside your operation. Depending on the engagement, that may mean working with you as the owner as well as key people on your team. We’re solving real operational problems inside your business rather than working through a predetermined group coaching curriculum.
Is this just templates, systems and SOPs?
No, and I don’t believe adding more process automatically makes a business better. Templates, SOPs, trackers, software and other tools may be part of the solution, but we start with the problem: Where is work getting stuck? Where is information being lost? What keeps coming back to the owner? Where is there confusion about who owns what? Then we build the simplest practical structure needed to solve it. The tools support the operation; they aren’t the product.
Do you provide project management?
Yes. Depending on what your business needs, I can step in to help plan, coordinate and manage specific projects or build the structure your team needs to manage projects more effectively themselves. Often, project management challenges point to something happening further upstream: unclear ownership, limited visibility, inconsistent planning, poor handoffs or too much information living with the owner. So while I can help manage the project itself, I’ll also look at what’s making project delivery harder than it needs to be and help strengthen the systems around it. The goal is not just to get one project across the finish line. It’s to leave the business better equipped to manage the next one.
How do you work?
We build a meeting rhythm around the reality of your business. That gives us regular time to look ahead, identify operational needs, make decisions and build the plan together. From there, much of the development work happens off-site, designing workflows, processes, tools, role structures and other operational infrastructure, followed by implementation with you and your team. It’s collaborative, but it doesn’t require you to find hours every week to sit in meetings with a consultant. The work is designed to fit around a business that’s already busy.
What kinds of businesses do you work with?
I primarily work with growing, owner-led trades and service businesses that already have a team but still depend heavily on the owner to keep things moving. That includes contractors and businesses in construction, renovations, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, painting, landscaping, excavation, garage doors and other field-service industries. The common denominator isn’t the specific trade. It’s a business that has grown to the point where the way it operates needs to grow with it.
Do I need to be located in the Fraser Valley?
No. Much of my operations consulting work can be done remotely through video meetings, shared systems and off-site development, which means I can work with trades and service businesses outside the Fraser Valley. Contractors in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and throughout the Fraser Valley have the added benefit of in-person support when being on-site or working directly with the team makes sense.
